Why Choose Wooden Countertops?

Why Choose Wooden Countertops?

With so many tiles and textures to choose from these days, a kitchen redesign can feel more overwhelming than ever. And when it comes to your countertops, you want to be sure to choose something that’s not only pleasing to the eye but durable. A well-designed kitchen puts function first!

So why choose wooden countertops for the kitchen?

Look and Feel

Beautifully unique, wood brings warmth and texture to any space. And this isn’t your grandma’s kitchen – these days, integrating wood into a kitchen is a modern design choice. It looks great contrasted with subway tile for a modern-rustic look.

Not only that, but wood brings a natural feel to the home. According to research, we tend to feel more at ease in nature. By incorporating wood into interiors, we bring in the character of the outdoors.

An Environmentally Conscious Choice

Our wood countertops are (as always with Son of a Woodcutter) built with locally sourced materials. They’re also finished with an environmentally-friendly finish that is free of volatile organic compounds (also known as VOCs).

Another reason to choose solid wood? Unlike marble or laminate, it’s a renewable, biodegradable resource. The energy requirement for production of a wood countertop is low – especially in comparison to the production other options that involve high emissions of carbon dioxide.

Durability

If there’s anywhere in the house that you’re bound to make a mess, it’s the kitchen. That’s why it’s so important to have counters that are built to last! While different wood species offer different levels of hardness, solid wood is a strong and durable material.

You’ll also want something stain-resistant. At Son of a Woodcutter, we use a finish on our custom wood countertops that is resilient to common stains like coffee, beer, wine and of course, food!

Flexibility

Unlike other materials like quartz, marble and concrete, it’s easy to make adjustments to wood on-site for sinks and faucet placement. Solid wood countertops can also be sanded and refinished to update or change the look of your kitchen over time. We love the flexibility of wood countertops and the wide variety of options!

We work with you to design and build custom wood countertops that will look beautiful in your kitchen and last a lifetime. If you’re looking for something outside of the norm, built by people who care and take pride in great work, then wood is a truly unique option for your kitchen.
